Interior Pricing

Ceilings

Interior Painting

Interior pricing varies so greatly from job to job based on many factors. Ceilings can range from $0.75 – $1.50 per square foot of the surface area being painted.  A lot of times your floor square footage will be close to your ceiling square footage. Not all jobs are charged by the square foot. Smaller jobs are typically bid based on time and materials estimated to complete the job. Some factors that go into pricing are:

  • Ceiling height
  • Will the walls be painted as well
  • What colors are currently on the surfaces
  • What the new colors will be
  • Vacant or occupied
  • Floors being replaced or not

Walls

Interior Painting

Walls also vary greatly between jobs as not all homes are created equal. Average pricing can range from $1.00 – $2.50 per square foot of the wall surface (not the floor square footage). An average bedroom with 8 ft ceilings (12×12) can range from $500 – $750 depending on how many colors are being applied & what colors are currently on the walls and what colors will be applied. Some things to consider when estimating wall painting:

  • Ceiling height
  • Number of colors
  • What surfaces are being painted
  • What colors are currently on the surfaces
  • What the new colors will be
  • Vacant or occupied
  • Number of windows & doors per room
  • Floors being replaced or not
  • Wall repairs

Doors & Trim

Interior Painting

Doors & trims are more difficult to estimate especially when the walls are not being painted at the same time. Pricing will be higher if walls are not being painted as the walls will have to be touched up after painting the trims & baseboards. Pricing can range from $1.00 – $2.00 per linear foot of trim & doors can range from $200 – $500 per door depending on the style of door & surface condition. Some things to consider when estimating:

  • Are the current trims and/or doors painted, primed or wood stained
  • Will they need to be oil primed
  • What style of door is it
  • Interior or exterior door
  • What colors are currently on the surfaces
  • What the new colors will be
  • Vacant or occupied
  • Number of windows & doors per room
  • Floors being replaced or not
